Play/Pause button not available with radio in Windows Media Player

Submitted by antiufo on July 29, 2008 to Annoyance, Usability

When you are listening to a radio with Windows Media Player, you can not press the Play/Pause button on the keyboard, in the UI or in the taskbar mode, because it is disabled. Pressing this button should mute/unmute the radio, or use time-shifting to pause the radio and make possible to instantly restore it.

It works for me just as if i was just playing a song locally.

@xiphi: sometime it works, but sometimes it doesn't though...

probably it depends on the web radio. xiphi and Ensign Joe, which are the URLs of the radios you used?

I think it probably works for "pre-recorded radio" or streaming files, but if the radio station is live-streaming then the buttons don't work.
