Remove/replace feature advertising in WinSAT tests during Windows install

Submitted by Red Herring on June 26, 2008 to Aesthetics

"Getting it done just got more fun" & the other gems that follow are corny & frankly the user doesn’t need to be told about features of Windows if they are that far into the installation process as they are likely to be familiar with Windows already.

The feature advertising blurbs that pop up during the WinSAT tests as Windows installs really should be removed & are a bit of a throw back to the old Win9x days. Given the industries preference to ship Windows pre-installed and factory restore images which bypass the installation process any newbie’s this soft advertising is aimed at are never going to see it.

Remove the feature advertising from the WinSAT test installation process and just leave a simple progress bar or perhaps something fancier. If it can be done I think it would be better to tie the WinSAT tests into the normal installation process instead.

advertising Windows features during the initial WinSAT is usefull because it serves to entertain the users instead leaving them to watch a meaningless bar

Voted up as it would be nice if there was more useful information here. Like next steps to complete my install. Actual pictures of where to find certain features. Showing where to find old features.. Etc

I actually liked seeing this for the first time when installing vista, it introduced me to its new features and overall freshness of windows. Shouldnt be removed, but i think MS should remove the corny senteces though.

Hey, it's all about being cheesy! Plus nothing too intensive can be done here otherwise it would interfere with the performance checking progress, hence the simple text and graphic.
