Recycle bin icon in desktop

Submitted by Zerlot on June 3, 2008 to Icons, Usability

Recycle Bin icon is displayed in Desktop by default. Sure i can make the Recycle Bin disappear by selecting do not show desktop icon but that method is annoying when you need recycle bin.

do not display Recycle Bin icon in Desktop when it's empty/show recycle bin icon when it has something on it.

This is a feature request more than a fix.

Actually, I think it's more a bug request -- i.e. if this behavior were to be implemented, then it would be a bug, and a good candidate for the UX Taskforce. The absolute *last* thing a consistent interface should have is an icon for a function that appears or disappears depending on the internal state of that function!

I don't want my Recycle Bin disappear, because I habitually drag files to it to delete them.

You don't want your House Trash Can to be hidden by your wife when it's empty, don't you?

Recycle bin should appear ALWAYS or NEVER but not just "when it intends to do".
This would also cause a lot of people asking for support because they don't figure out why their Recycle Bin is suddenly gone.

Yes, lol 69 devotes =D
