Start Menu Shutdown/Sleep button should include Restart Option
The button in the Start menu that gives the one click Shut Down or Sleep option does not have an option to pick restart when configuring this in the power options menu.
Add the option to let this button Restart the computer instead of doing a complete shutdown.

i know i can do that... the point is that I restart my computer more often than I shut it off completely. I'd like the option to change the button to restart the system instead of shutting it down.
This is too specific I think. Maybe you can create a desktop shortcut for restart or install a Sidebar gadget with restart buttons.
wow.... you guys are completely missing the point. I'm not looking for a sidebar gadget or a desktop shortcut to to do this.
What's so hard to understand about "I'd like this button to perform this function, instead of this other function"?

Because you are not the average user, and your suggestion will really mess with the average user. The fewer onscree options the better. PERIOD.
Most users DON'T restart their computer unless they have installed software or updates that require it (even most Power Users), and when this happens, Windows gives the user a clear dialog with a restart button, they don't need one in the start menu.
Other than settings or software updates, what in the hell are you restarting your computer for all the time? I can't even begin to think of a good reason, but am open to why you do this. Even when developing low level applications that can cause system instability I almost never have the need to restart the computer for no reason.
(Even if you have a bad application that eats RAM or GDI Objects, just log off and back on, this will clean up the system 99.9% of the time, as all user processes are terminated and RAM is fully given back.)
And how many average user's do you know of that actually go in to mess with the power options where this setting is located? I don't honestly see how this one extra option would mess with an average user, at least to the degree that you are implying it would.
I don't have an abnormally high number of reboots, I just reboot more than I shut down and prefer the option to use that button on the start menu to do it, rather than having an extra menu to go through to get there.
Why do you reboot so many times?, I personally reboot my PC like once in a month. A "quick reboot" button only fills the start menu with a useless function.
How many times do I have to say this?
I DON"T REBOOT VERY OFTEN, I JUST REBOOT MORE THAN I SHUT DOWN.
Why does everyone keep thinking that I am saying I reboot 10 times a day when I say a reboot more often than I shut down?
I reboot maybe once every few days from software installs. The only time I reboot multiple times per day is if I'm attempting to overclock my CPU.
@DoctorHouse: If you are a overclocking geek than just put a restart link into your start menu. Or use a sidebar gadget or just drag your mouse over the little arrow in the start menu and release the button on "restart". You can reach every option with only one single click.
i've been looking for this. i reboot more than i lock the computer. hope someone finds a tweak.
I think it is a perfectly reasonable request. My organization implements power management via WOL and power management settings via GPO.
Our users are supposed to restart at the end of the day and walk away, so we would obviously like to make that the default action.
