Annoying Icon Shuffling When Adding New Toolbar on Desktop

Submitted by thenonhacker on June 8, 2008 to Aesthetics, Annoyance, Icons, Legacy, Usability

So you neatly have arranged icons on several places at the top and bottom edges of your desktop. Then you accidentally dragged a (supposed to be) folder shortcut to the top of your desktop -- so it becomes a toolbar!

Then, your icons gets re-shuffled or displaced because the new toolbar ate away some desktop space! So there you go again, and you have to re-arrange your icons manually. * SIGH*

Windows Vista should simply shift the bottom icons 1 row higher,
or the top icons, 1 row lower, when the vertical desktop space is reduced.

People still add tool bars to their desktop? Reminds me of active desktop and the "web desktop" no one really uses it. unless you count todays internet related gadgets but thats a whole diferent story

Happens for no apparent reason on logon with the Taskbar set to auto-hide, as well.

Tip: set toolbars to auto-hide by default (not the taskbar).
