By Default, Only Allow Autoplay on CDs and DVDs

Submitted by thenonhacker on June 8, 2008 to Annoyance, Legacy, Usability

Currently, AutoPlay is enabled on ALL drives by default, and is one of the ways Viruses and Trojans get automatically ran from Portable USB Sticks or USB External Drives. This will trigger additional UAC prompts, too!

Autoplay should be enabled by default ONLY for Read-Only media.

No Autoplay by default for:

- USB Flash Drives
- USB External Hard Drives
- Floppy Drives
- Local Disks like Drive C

This will also help reduce UAC prompts!
