Icon For Computer Folder Should Vary Depending Upon Notebook Or Desktop
After installing windows vista and booting up for the first time I recognized that the computer folder carried a desktop icon even though I was on a notebook. A notebook icon for computer should be utilized for notebooks. I found one tucked away in imageres.dll.
Make a notebook icon default for computer on explorer for notebooks and a desktop icon default for computer on explorer for desktops.

Don't know if it's a good idea usability-wise, or if it's feasible, but +1.
+1 Like the idea as the icon is already present in Windows's imageres.
But I don't think changing the name into "Notebook" would be good for compatibility reasons. But still would be a nice addition
They could do "PC" you know, for the dumb ads they are doing..
how can you be your computer? are you glad you arnt human anymore? but rather an innmate object
Did bearluke vote this down too? Idiot.
I promoted this
Just a detail. But this is a good tip for Microsoft.
I laugh at the idiots who demoted this.
they have no taste whats so ever
Nice idea, although I wonder if there is a direct way for Windows to determine the shape (laptop versus desktop) of the computer it's running on.
Windows can tell when it's running on a laptop. It shows the battery icon in the system notification area and displays Mobile PC in the Control Panel.
I think they'd better put in a netbook icon, slate tablet icon, an Mobile Internet Device icon and a UMPC icon as well (there are other form factors other than notebook or desktop) =D
What about netbooks and tablet PCs? :P It would be even better if the icon can be customized by OEMs.
@ "customised by OEMs"
Urgh! that would be horrible, OEMs have no taste at all!
@fowl
Agreed lol! Microsoft is trying to stop OEM's from customising their Windows' installations anyway.

+1 Good idea, actually. It would be a nice finishing touch. "Computer" could also be renamed "Notebook" automatically.
