Does Microsoft actually read these?

Submitted by rubber gun on October 21, 2008 to Website suggestion

I know this doesn't go here, but there are so many suggestions, and Microsoft doesn't seem to be doing anything...

Someone submit this site to Microsoft, otherwise if they don't read this we're just playing with ourselves

@.chris

"microsoft don't fix anything"

It's as if he's expecting fixes for some of the issues mentioned here to be bundled with the next critical update. Lets face it - windows 98 style icons in a dialogue box (for instance) are hardly going to be at the top of Microsofts to do list. They're the kind of thing that gets replaced in the next major revision of the OS

And regarding the title - http://www.istartedsomething.com/20080612/ux-taskforce-theyre-listening/ - particularly see the update at the bottom

@GoddersUK: "If you hadn't noticed Vista is not in development any more."
Actually I have to correct myself. Rumor of a Vista SP2 before Windows 7 release is said to made.
So I was wrong, I guess (if SP2 is really real)

Microsoft does listen to people complaints... more than ever. Granted its not enough, and MUCH more could be done, but it is a step in the right direction. Hopefully Microsoft will continue to develop this behavior. Also remember that you might have some Microsoft software programmers that might them self correct these issues during the development stages, or watch out for a certain bug or something.

@Good_Bytes

Most of the stuff on this site is not the sort of thing that is fixed in a service pack.

Typically all a service pack is is a collection of already released updates in one go (with perhaps a few new ones). xp sp2 has led people to expect far to much from service packs.

One can only hope :(
In reality, I know this.
If their is SP2 it might just be for network compatibility between Windows 7, Server 2008 latest update pack, and Windows Vista, just finalized update, group of updates, and perhaps 1 or 2 annoyance that is easy to fix for Microsoft.

If mac os x can runs on all x86 PC and is as user friendly as vista (like the file explorer), i will.
But not.
Mac os x has a stupid dock that is not as easy to use as the start bar
windows just bouncing around (expose)
lack of advanced features
no customisation

it looks good, but not productive
not to mention the crap hardware

Update! Long Zheng stated in a PDC 08 liveblog:

"I've heard via Microsoft developers a lot of the Aero Taskforce bugs HAVE been fixed"

Apparently this includes the Add Fonts box too!
