Tray clock should be upgraded

Submitted by wasker on June 4, 2008 to Usability

Tray clock functionality is under-utilized. Current date and day of week is being shown only in double-height taskbar.

I believe in the age of high-resolution computing, people who use huge screen resolutions might want to sacrifice fifty or so pixels to see current date and day of week along with the time (like "Tue, June 3, 9:04PM"). I'd like to have an option in Notification Area Properties for that.

I appreciate of MS would let me specify the format.

I'd like to display the number of the current date after the "PM", for example. Saves me from double-clicking.

If you are willing to give up some space, double-height your task bar (I do so I can fit more minimized windows).

On my machine, the first line has the time, second the day, third the date.

Oops, re-read and saw that you already knew that. :)

It would be nice if the single-height could display the time and the date like in the Windows 7 Builds:
hh:mm:ss above
yyyy/mm/dd (Day of week?)
