Ease of Access Center access key problem

Submitted by nitrous9200 on October 18, 2008 to Annoyance, Bug, Usability

When you are in the Ease of Access Center, you are given the option to start the Magnifier, Narrator, On-Screen Keyboard or to setup high contrast. Pressing the ALT key in this window underlines the access keys for these options. If you press G for Magnifier, (more...)

Make Alt + G open the Magnifier instead of bringing up the high contrast window.

BitLocker UAC elevation shows blank white window

Submitted by nitrous9200 on October 18, 2008 to Aesthetics

When clicking on the BitLocker icon in the start menu, the window (that will show the program after UAC elevation) opens a completely blank window except for the main design elements. No other UAC-necessary app (Computer Management for example) does this, (more...)

Change the behavior so that the window opens after the UAC elevation like other apps, and fix the typo.

Encrypting File Systems dialog - wrong font

Submitted by nitrous9200 on October 18, 2008 to Aesthetics, Usability

The "Encrypting File Systems" window (go into user accounts, click Manage your file encryption certificates) uses an old font despite having the blue Segoe UI header, which looks ugly.

Change the font

Wireless network chooser doesn't show security type

Submitted by nitrous9200 on September 29, 2008 to Annoyance, Usability

When you go to choose a wireless network, you are only told that any given network is security enabled, but you have to bring up the tooltip to discover what type.

This could be useful if you had to quickly distinguish between multiple (more...)

Say WEP, WPA etc after Security enabled network as in XP. It will only make the dialog box just a tiny bit more useful and won't detract from it visually (it's just a few more letters)

Problem Reports and Solutions radio buttons are not Vista style

Submitted by nitrous9200 on August 21, 2008 to Aesthetics, Legacy

A report page created by Problem Reports and Solutions gives the user the chance to say if the report was helpful, not helpful, or somewhat helpful. The radio buttons for these options are not the new Vista-style radio buttons (and therefore look out (more...)

Update the dialog to show Vista-style radio buttons.

Clicking (more...) should show more rather than redirecting

Submitted by nitrous9200 on August 17, 2008 to Website suggestion

When viewing the submissions from the front page or any of the categories in the list view, a (more...) link is displayed to show any truncated text. When this is clicked, the user is redirected to the submission's own page rather than displaying (more...)

When the (more...) link is clicked, expand the text to show all of it (and perhaps a scrollbar if there is a lot of text).

<FIXED IN WINDOWS 7> Sound Recorder save as type dropdown has misspelling

Submitted by nitrous9200 on August 17, 2008 to Aesthetics

The dropdown box in the save dialog for Sound Recorder lists the option as Window Media Audio File (*.wma) which is obviously supposed to say "Windows Media".

Change the text to read Windows Media Audio.

Edit: this has been fixed.
