Taskbar Toolbars like Quick Launch Need Better Icon Sizing Controls

Submitted by irv4oh on June 11, 2008 to Aesthetics, Annoyance, Icons, Usability

In the View submenu of a taskbar toolbar like Quick Launch, there are only the settings Small Icons and Large Icons. For commonly available widescreen monitors, it would be more useful to select more options like you can for icon views in Explorer windows.

Several possibilities:

1. System-wide autocorrect like the Math function in Word
2. EnableHexNumpad enabled by default in Registry
3. New splash or toolbar style Character Map
4. System workaround for non-Unicode-aware (more...)

High Contrast Options for Visually Impaired Work Poorly

Submitted by irv4oh on June 11, 2008 to Aesthetics, Legacy, Usability

I would prefer dark backgrounds and contrasting text & lines, for better readability and power savings. Often, high contrast is more than just a preference for those who are visually impaired. However, High Contrast is the same since at least Windows (more...)

High contrast should automatically readjust color schemes so that there are never white backgrounds and so that text, line art, and widgets have automatically determined contrasting colors for better usability.
