Multiline text box bug in digital signature viewer

Submitted by wasker on December 10, 2008 to Aesthetics, Usability

There's a multiline text box in digital signature viewer. Unfortunately, it unusable: the red circle shows where scroll bar is.

Increase text box size or use some other type of control.

Error Applying File Attributes dialog box doesn't follow Aero UI styles

Submitted by wasker on September 16, 2008 to Aesthetics, Legacy

Error Applying File Attributes dialog box doesn't follow Aero UI styles: obviously custom dialog box is being shown instead of a standard one.

Bring the dialog up to modern requirements.

Reliability and Performance monitor doesn't look like the rest of Vista info centers, doesn't use Vista style for progress bar.

Submitted by wasker on June 27, 2008 to Aesthetics, Legacy

System information window looks very '9x-ish; font size and family are not system default.

Fix look-n-feel.

Productivity suite inconsistency big time

Submitted by wasker on June 13, 2008 to Aesthetics

Recycle Bin confirmations

Submitted by wasker on June 8, 2008 to Bug, Usability

There's an option for displaying confirmation dialog when deleting a file to Recycle Bin. Turning off this option will turn off the dialog when user presses Delete key. The dialog still appears when user presses Shift-Del (permanent delete). Behavior (more...)

Shell must detect cases when Recycle Bin is absent and ask user for confirmation even if the confirmation option was turned off.

In fact, the shell is aware of "absent Recycle Bin" situation (Delete File dialog is being displayed (more...)

Paint MUST be replaced

Submitted by wasker on June 4, 2008 to Aesthetics, Annoyance, Legacy, Usability

Stock Paint application is outdated, feature-limited, ugly and must be thrown away from the modern operating system environment.

Replace Paint with more sophisticated application. Paint.NET looks very promising.

Tray clock should be upgraded

Submitted by wasker on June 4, 2008 to Usability

Tray clock functionality is under-utilized. Current date and day of week is being shown only in double-height taskbar.

I believe in the age of high-resolution computing, people who use huge screen resolutions might want to sacrifice fifty or so pixels to see current date and day of week along with the time (like "Tue, June 3, 9:04PM"). I'd like to have (more...)

Power plan editor window is busy and requires too much clicks

Submitted by wasker on June 4, 2008 to Usability

Advanced power plan editor window looks too busy, settings tree size is way small for such amount of options, each option requires too many unnecessary clicks to access its editor.

Show options editors at-a-glance; make window bigger and not that crowded; put meaningful descriptions to things like "Link State Power Management" or "USB selective suspend setting".

Tab order in File Open/Save dialogs broken

Submitted by wasker on June 3, 2008 to Bug, Usability

When Aero-style File Open/Save dialog is in Details mode, Shift-Tab moves focus from initial File Name text box to the list header, not to the list, which doesn't make sense and makes user press Shift-Tab over and over again.

PS.

Fix the tab order, so Shift-Tab would focus the list, not the header.
