Missing volume control in Photo Gallery when watching videos
If you have a digital camera that also takes videos you may know this: If there are videos in the same folder, Windows Photo Gallery plays them, which is nice. But you can't control the volume which could be annoying.
Not only provide play and pause buttons but also a volume control. There is space where the two buttons to rotate images are.

CAPS LOCK is more a pain than a help
When typing fast on a notebook keyboard, caps lock gets accidentally activated. sO tHERE sHOULD bE aN oPTION tO dISABLE cAPS lOCK. Because it's not really usefull and an outdated functionality from back when there wasn't a netiquette.

UI animations/transitions should be enhanced to make Vista "feel" faster and smoother
In Vista, most menus or elements fade in and after you pressed a command or something, they just disappear without an effect. This feels slow and not smooth at the same time. It should be vice-versa like it is in Office 2007.

Too many help texts in dialogs
Dialogs shouldn't be abused as the help system. Too much text clutters up the layout. Unexperienced users would need the questions once when they see the dialog for the first time, every other user has to ignore them a thousand times. This is annoying.

Provide a prominent help button on every (!) dialog/window. Unexperienced users should get a specific help page for that dialog with all the help questions on one page.

White background behind file icons in a folder icon
There is an unnecessary white background behind document icons when displayed inside of a folder icon. I think it's a bad design decision.
Make use of the alpha channel and shadow of the file icons.

Missing mouse focus for scrolling

Mouse pointer flickers when start dragging a window
When you start dragging a Aero Glass window, the mouse pointer flickers for one time. Small bug but a bug. Also noticeable if you just click the title bar and wait for one second.

Inconsistant look of icons on the command bar
Only the “View” icons in Explorer’s command bar have drop shadows. Some icons are hard to "read" (green color on green background!).
Every icon should have a drop shadow. Kind of civil rights for icons ;)

Small rendering issue on taskbar
There is a shadow on the left border of the transparent taskbar. Appears when a tool tip on the taskbar fades in and disappears when you hover over the blue orb. A dark shadow can be seen on bright wallpapers and vice versa.

Text on glass difficult to read.
Contrast is to low and the “clouds” behind the words are ugly.
Use "reflections" wise to make the underlying glass less transparent, use white drop shadows instead of "clouds", use Segoe Semibold font (like in Windows Media Center or Zune player).

Inconsistent window behavior on glass
You can’t move the window of the Photo Gallery by clicking in the lower glass area. This does work for Media Player and the Add Gadget dialog.
Glass areas should always enable to move a window.

Missing keyboard shortcuts to access command bar
There are no keyboard shortcuts to access the new command bar in Explorer and other Vista apps.
Office 2007 shows the way to go.
