Customize Explorer Toolbar and Status Bar
Oh, and we should be able to turn off other buttons.. such as app-specific buttons like burn or slideshow, in case we want to keep it simple.
Also, access to the toolbar customization dialog should be clean and unobtrusive. For example, a small and simple "arrow" or "plus" icon on the right side, rather than a bulky "customize" button. Or hide the settings in folder options dialog accessible via tools > folder options.
Might also be nice to have an option to switch to text or icon-only modes in this toolbar to declutter or save space for more buttons..
Customize Explorer Toolbar and Status Bar
I have spent hours puring over MS documentation on how to add buttons to the toolbar (the docs are for software vendors moreso than the tweaker), but nevertheless, I'm pretty desperate to be able to tweak this toolbar.
Also, one-click new folder should be a standard. I mean it's in the save-as dialogs of every app for usability sake!!
Explorer toolbar Button to create new Folders
Bearluke: It's called usability... why two clicks? XP gave us a one-click new folder button.
I'd also opt for a keyboard shortcut. Ideally Ctrl+N.

"Add Fonts" is outdated
I do want better font organization though, with font-grouping, ability to turn fonts on and off, etc:

Search UI

Windows search is total crap at the moment, I agree. It could indeed take a lesson from OS X and Google's desktop search.
I don't use search AT ALL because it just gives me a billion irrelevant files that take forever to resort, navigation, or otherwise try to make sense of. Seriously, if I search for something in Vista, it should at least show me the files whose filename contains the terms searched-on at the top of the list for crying out loud!
Maybe MS should think outside the explorer on this one. Perhaps search is meant to be its own app (like it is with GDS and OSX)
Speed could be improved too... again, if MS is all about beating Google, they need to beat Google's desktop search as well. Microsoft, quick slackin' off!! :)
