Internet Explorer UX and the Scroll Wheel Button
I agree with Kaz. If anything, scrolling should scroll the tabs. Shift + Scroll could change tabs perhaps, but intuitively I vote for scrolling to default to... um... scrolling!
Please, add Tabs in Windows Explorer
Windows Explorer = File Manager
I would NOT want to see it become a tabbed interface... dragging and dropping files would become hellish!
View Submissions by Severity or Impact
It can still be taken with a grain of salt if implemented. And I disagree with cosmo0, as impact can also be judged by savvy users, as well as usability experts like myself. But it's true that not everyone can make a completely accurate judgement. So that's where the votes come in handy.
I just don't want to dig through a few thousand low-severity/impact bugs, when I can skip to the highs and vote them up, or if I disagree with them (including severity/impact) then vote them down.
Improve Windows Notepad - Bug Fixes and New Features
I also use notepad to "destyle" my clipboard contents. Extremely valuable... Therefore, any type of support for text formatting should be kept out of notepad. That's what wordpad is for! And word has it that it will see improvements in Windows 7. Now I'm hoping notepad will get picked up for improvements as well!
In any case, a tabbed interface would certainly be an improvement, I believe that without a doubt. Especially with the likes of tabbed interfaces gaining popularity in many applications. And, like Firefox, tabs need not show up until more than a single document is open. And using tabs can be an optional preference, which can be disabled by the "casual user".
But is a tabbed interface a must-have? It's debatable.
I wouldn't want it if it slowed down the app. But I currently have three notepad windows open, which clutters up the desktop a bit. So if it could be implemented without any performance loss, people would get used to it, sure.
I'm what you'd probably consider a "casual" IE user, since Firefox is my primary browser. But would I prefer to use IE without tabbed support? Heck no!
Besides, seems like a ton of programmers use it a lot. Not sure how "casual" that is.
Keyboard Shortcut to Create New Folders in Windows Explorer
Assigned to categories: "Legacy"
Changed solution description.
Keyboard Shortcut to Create New Folders in Windows Explorer
@Urbane.Tiger: Doing that would unnecessarily bloat the system. File managers should be a native utility only. It's too integrated into the system (application dialogs, file dialogs, etc). Third-party apps simply cannot integrate on that level.
Regarding the shortcut, I'd also be open to Ctrl + Shift + N (which is similar to the mac 'cut for creating new folders). Windows + E also opens a new Explorer window though, but it's usable from any app, including Explorer itself. What about Windows + N? Mmmm, maybe they should use that one for the Network window or control panel.
Ctrl + Shift + N sounds like a winner.
Native Clipboard Swap Functionality (Edit > Swap; Ctrl+Shift+X)
@Sarreq:
Exactly! I do this all the time, and it's a pain in the arse, especially if you don't have a clipboard manager. However, even then it's still got a few extra steps associated with it. Clipboard swap would simplify this common task in an innovative way. :)
Windows Key + H to Hide The Currently Visible Application
@secretGeek
No not really... I use a mac at work (not by choice), but I find it incredibly useful to hide apps just to get them out of the way and declutter the screen. I shouldn't have to use a mouse to do it. That's pure inconvenience, especially for a keyboard-savvy pupil like myself!
It's about NOT looking at things. It's NOT about looking at pr0n, at least for me. While some people might find it useful for that sort of thing, if they need to hide it from someone, they're going to get caught eventually... it's only a matter of time. Especially considering there will probably be some type of bug with Microsoft's implementation that will unhide it on you randomly. Haha.
Regardless, I don't feel sorry for the sap who gets canned because he's not doing his job. And yes, I know of a couple who have been fired for it. Won't be going down that road, no thank you!
Where's the "UP" Button Gone?
I agree with rajkosto, however. The breadcrumbs bar should be right-aligned, cutting off only those letters that don't fit, not the whole crumb. I have submitted a new suggestion for that. See here:

Where's the "UP" Button Gone?
By the way, the keyboard shortcut for this is Alt + Up (Arrow), not Ctrl + Up. Yes, when I stumbled upon that shortcut by accident, it became one of my most used 'cuts. :)
Windows Key + H to Hide The Currently Visible Application
@fowl: how can you call this "cluttering up" the windows key? That's like saying "eliminate the desktop shortcuts" or "get rid of the taskbar quicklaunch" both of which make launching applications much easier for those who use them. But fact is, you DON'T have to use them... Just like Win + H. You DON'T have to use it. I think you just don't want to clutter your mind with awesome keyboard shortcuts! ;)
Also, for simplicity sake, Win + H should definately be implemented. Others who want to play Twister with the Alt+Space+N, you'll survive. Win + H won't interfere with any application's keyboard shortcuts, especially those in Adobe apps which do use Alt + Space shortcuts. So I am highly against anything but the Windows key.
And Win + M, while it doesn't simply minimize a single app, is just a bit of a finger stretch (I prefer one-handed shortcuts for common shortcuts like these) than would be Win + H if Win + M were to minimize the single app.
And perhaps Win + H could simply hide the app, rather than minimize it, by throwing it below the desktop in the z-index, and have an option to throw it into the system tray to declutter the taskbar.
That would just be 110% awesome. :)
Sidebar calender and Outlook 2007 - Why don't work together?
Making integration optional is certainly a plus, but perhaps there should just be a gadget that already does this. Besides, Windows Calendar is the default calendar app in Vista. ;)
Improve Windows Notepad - Bug Fixes and New Features
@.Chris
Wordpad sucks and I will never ditch notepad for it. Wordpad is a rich text editor, not a simple text editor, so I don't use it. I have the real thing for that (Word 2007). In any case, Wordpad is already on the slate for improvement, so this discussion should really stay on notepad. ;)
It's really the simple things in life that mean a lot. And for millions, notepad is one of those simple things. But it's simplicity seems to have had MS ignoring it for a long time (the bugs have existed since at least XP). Pure failure.
One thing I *don't* want to see is Notepad integrated into Wordpad! Recipe for disaster right there...
So, by simple I indeed want to see its existing feature-set improved, but I'm not asking for bloat (such as syntax highlighting, etc). I just want the simple things fixed/improved. Tabs would indeed be a bonus, but I'd live without it if I could have the bugs fixed and the usability enhancements implemented. Of course, tabs = usability for sure. Unlimited undo/redo as well.
I've tried all the notepad replacements, and they all suck. I just want notepad! :)
Full Font Manager - Turn Fonts On and Off, Group Fonts, Preview Fonts, Etc
Not quite a duplicate is it? The original is about getting rid of the old interface, which has been done. Why can't we simply have something better?
That is all :)
Explorer doesn't load thumbnails for images that are not visible, you see them loading when scrolling up/down

FYI, what's wrong with adding this as an option that defaults to 'off'?
