Window's core thingys are like this: the registry, etc. You can run from it, but you can't hide. Why disable something that shouldn't be there? MS. Should do what Leopard did from Tiger, and make ONE menu item, called More..., and force ALL items to be placed inside. Better still, spank the developers. These are there simply because they want them there, and not for functionality.

I hate the registry. It works for developers, but if they invent some new concept, with modern UI elements, like non-hierarchal touch-screen coverflow browsing, with settings being live-updated, Developers would like it more i think

Heck, this whole List view thing is outdated. All these old legacy dialog boxes insist on showing EVERYTHING at you once. Steal from IE, and make Tabs, grouping, People will love you, microsoft.

and sidebar will disappear, but if you keep the desktop showing and open a new explorer pane, it pops back.

scrap the animation, put all download windows in a list, provide information about the download we care about, and truncate the filename so when I download to a deep folder, I don't need to guess where i'm downloading. (Especially in XP: C:/documents and settings/your name/My documents/download files/software is just C:/....................blah
allow pausing and restarting. Allow linking to download page
Heck, copy Mac for this one. No-one will care, because it's so ugly now
