Auto-Logon & Lock feature

Submitted by Mugwump00 on October 13, 2008 to Usability

Auto-Logon, which is enabled by default for a new Vista install, and which can be re-enabled after setting a password using NetPlWiz.exe, is great for 1 user workstations.

Slow logons, caused by network/profile issues, low-memory, disk (more...)

Personally, for my home machines, I use NetPlWiz to set-up auto-logon, and then create a shortcut to lock the workstation (user32.dll,LockWorkStation) in the Startup group.

This securely gets all my startup programs (Sidebar, Foldershare, (more...)

Display Start Menu & Taskbar text the same was as window titles

Submitted by Mugwump00 on September 18, 2008 to Aesthetics

Vista windows title text displays with a hazed background effect which enables it to be legible even when windows borders are completely (aero) clear and a window is layered over white backgrounds.

Either use the same text-rendering technique across the UI, or present theme-developers the ability to utilize the "text haze" effect for their Start Menu & Taskbar.

Give us the freedom to have our SM/TB coloured anyway, even (more...)
