Filenames covered by taskbar

Problem: When you have a file as the last one in a column on the desktop and that file has a long enough filename, it is obscured by the taskbar. The full filename of the file in the example is 'The Trains of the Obama Express January 17 2009.flv'.

Solution: Make the filename appear to the side or elsewhere.

Copying from Temp Internet Files- Avoid appending [1]

Problem: Whenever you copy any file from Temporary Internet Files, the file has [1] appended to its name in the destination folder. If I must use the files, or they are interdependent, I must rename them one by one.

Solution: Don't append [1].

Problem: When you promote or demote a suggestion, the number of votes change accordingly, but the number of promotes/demotes doesn't.

Show "Content.IE5" and Recycle Bin

Problem: Even with both "Show Hidden Files" checked and "Hide protected Operating System Files" unchecked, the folder Content.IE5 is not visible. The Temporary Internet Files folder is, however.

Progress Bars for Small Operations

Problem: When you copy, delete, or move a file, there should be a progress bar. However, Vista has taken this to an annoying level--Even the smallest of files (shortcuts) display a progress bar when deleting them. Opening windows and closing them slows the OS (more...)

Taskbar Properties

Problem: On a computer without Aero installed (Home Basic), the option to show window previews is still in the Taskbar Properties without a function.

Solution: Detect Aero and hide/show the option.

Advanced File Associations

Problem: The Set Associations window is very basic and drab, takes long time to load. Also, it only lets you change program associations. The XP one had icons, text, and an option to delete the association or create a new one. Resorting to Creative Element (more...)

Solution: Bring back the old XP dialog, with some modifications. A streamlined UI is good, but add an advanced chart accessible via options. Make changing icons, descriptions, and the other 'Open With' options easier. Load the first screenful of file (more...)
