Problem: Just look at the photo. My first reaction is - "Man, I hate when I get a brand new computer and it comes preloaded with all this random bloatware". Then you realize it actually is part of Vista and a little bit of your geek soul dies.

Solution: All kidding aside - the best thing to do here is really start over. Do not try to fix a trainwreck - you will spend more time on it than you think and your result wont be as nice. I do not know how MS develops, I would hope the UI is very disconnected (more...)

Disk Manager desing is very bad and old.

IE Download animation

Problem: the IE download animation is pretty old "globe, paper and folder". The icon is jaggy and not clear either.

Solution: time to update the animation to something fresh.

Registry Editor Icon Outdated

Problem: Registry Editor and Windows Help Program icon outdated, it wasn't updated since Windows 9x (95/98/...).
Still existed in Windows 7.

Solution: Update new icons.

Advanced File Attributes

Problem: Advanced Attributes in the Properties dialog for files still has a Windows 98-era icon.

Solution: The best way to deal with this is by revamping the entire UI by which file properties are displayed–hopefully learning from media management programs; but otherwise, the icon just needs to be updated.

Recycle Bin and Delete file dialogs need updating

Problem: The Recycle Bin dialogs don't match other Vista dialogs. Vista dialogs have a white background, with a title message in blue and a grey bar at the bottom along with the buttons.

Solution: Update them. The bottom one is how (I think) it should look.

Internet Explorer page properties icon

Problem: Icon in ‘Properties’ dialog of web page in Internet Explorer (File Menu -> Properties) is prehistoric.

Solution: Get a new icon in there.

quick launch in taskbar issue

Problem: when customizing quick launch it doesn't appear correctly when locking it "see pics unlock/lock". Also empty space appear between the icon and the arrow. Quick launch UI menu should be updated.

Solution: need a quick fix and updated Quick Launch UI menu look at pics

Resizing of Network and Sharing Center Window Causes Icons to shrink, out of proportion.

Problem: When resizing the window of Network and Sharing Center, the icons that represent connectivity resizes, out of proportion.

Solution: Fix It. Make images resize proportionally, not just stretch it.

Provide a new Set of high quality icons and a better UI for selecting / previewing them

Problem: Outdated and impractical dialog for changing shortcut and program icons. Mixing old low quality icons with new high quality ones.

Solution: When pressing the 'Change Icon' for a shortcut or program, please provide a reasonably sized and resizable window, containing a large set of only high quality icons. Please, do not mix outdated looking icons with new ones. These should be presented (more...)

Old mouse pointers everywhere in Vista

Problem: Specially when you drag items to some programs, try dragging a textfile over notepad: Nice shadowed new Vista pointer vanishes and appear a legacy 3.11 Windows mouse pointer

Regedit does not show active registry folder

Explorer window taskbar icons don't update for special folders (Documents, Pictures, etc.)
