Shortcuts appearing accross all user accounts

Problem: When I install a program, it goes into C:/Program Files. When, during installation, it creates a shortcut, the shortcut is created for all Desktops on every account on my PC. I do not see or understand the alternative. I am ok with having these programs (more...)

PowerShell mount cmdlet has a typo "WIndows"

Problem: The help for the moun cmdlet in Windows PowerShell has a typo in the spelling of Windows, it says "WIndows" (Capital I)

Problem: It's not easy to remember all promotes/demotes, and I need to click Change vote and see which way the number goes to check if I promoted or demoted.

Solution: Change blue background after voting.
Tip: green for promote, red or pink for demote.

Note -- it's already implemented on Windows 7 Taskforce, but not on Aero/Aqua Taskforce!

Filenames covered by taskbar

Problem: When you have a file as the last one in a column on the desktop and that file has a long enough filename, it is obscured by the taskbar. The full filename of the file in the example is 'The Trains of the Obama Express January 17 2009.flv'.

Solution: Make the filename appear to the side or elsewhere.

Include POSIX-style command line tools as an installation option

Problem: It would be great if I didn't have to install Cygwin to get POSIX-style command line utilities like ls, sftp, ssh, grep, etc. How many of you guys that jump from platform to platform have typed ls at a DOS prompt?

Solution: I know they weren't written by MS, but come on, can't we all just get along? They're free, they're simple and some of them have been around for decades. At the very least make them an installation option.

Most AeroTaskforce issues still apply to Windows 7 taskforce

Problem: Most of the AeroTaskforce issues apply to Windows 7 taskforce. Windows 7 uses the same Vista codebase, same drivers, same Aero layer, etc etc. It's not a complete rewrite of Windows. It's more of a Vista 2.0.

Use Boot Manager font in Chkdsk and other BootExecute applications

spacebar presses "cancel" in a UAC prompt

Problem: I am typing on Windows Live Messenger and doing other stuff as well. Then a UAC prompt comes up in my face and I accidentally press spacebar (because, you know, I'm typing) and it presses cancel.

Solution: I know spacebar presses the highlighted button, and by default, the cancel button is highlighted. The cancel button should NOT be highlighted by default (the allow button shouldn't be highlighted either).

System Configuration (msconfig) window should be resizeable

Dots in a folder name cause Vista to think it's an extension

Problem: When you create a folder that contains a dot in its name, Windows Vista apparently thinks it has something to do with file extensions.

Change System Locale: Thou shalt restart now... what?

Problem: When I change the system locale (Language for non-Unicode programs), this comes out... Restart now, or Cancel. Can I restart later? I don't know. Do I press Cancel? But this means it will cancel the system locale change, right? I'm confused.

Solution: Replace the Cancel button with a Postpone button.

Wlan high pings to Router about every minute or two

Problem: A background service causes that vista scans every minute for a better accesspoint. So the ping goes up to about 3000ms or completly loses connection to the router.

This causes that websites are no longer surfable or games got extreme lags (more...)
