What really happened - Final Version of Windows 7

Submitted by littlelucas on June 16, 2008 to Website suggestion

For me (and surely for everybody else) it would be very interesting which ones of our suggestions and wishes were really overtaken and realised in the new OS of Windows 7.

Please create something like a table (with pictures) on the website in which you explain the users suggestions and how (and when) they were realised. Of course we will all see the changes when Windows 7 is out - but it would be more interesting to see (more...)

Istartedsomething.com - please add search to the site

Submitted by scarecrow on June 8, 2008 to Website suggestion

Windows has lots of different features owned by different teams. Currently the way your forum is structured it is very difficult for one of those teams to figure out what bugs are theirs without reading every entry in your forum. Search would be a big (more...)

www.istartedsomething.com: Add support for PNG images and provide a full size link to photos

Submitted by eried on June 9, 2008 to Website suggestion

No actual support for PNG (a lot of broken images). Images are automatically reduced for the width in the detailed view of each submission. Also, check the thumbnail height of images in the list view because actually too tall images break the layout.

Add support for PNG images and provide a "full size" link in the detailed view.

LInk to Taskforce on the blog's page

Submitted by rm20010 on July 2, 2008 to Website suggestion

Maybe a static link to the UX Taskforce can be placed somewhere on the blog's main page? The two blog posts linking to this site will eventually float off the "Latest articles" list. Eventually new users will have to find this site via (more...)

IStartedSomething.com - Offer to display "Controversial Submissions"

Submitted by thenonhacker on June 8, 2008 to Website suggestion

1. Users need to be aware of Controversial Submissions, these are submissions that have approximately 50-50 in terms of Promote/Demote. Can be indicated with a different color, too.

2. Clicking on the Votation Number will display the number (more...)

View unread suggestions

Submitted by fumbles on June 10, 2008 to Website suggestion

I want to see the most popular suggestions but I have to go to at least page five now before I get to one I haven't 'voted' on.

There should be an option so I can hide the read ones.

Keep the UX Taskforce Users Coming Back with Email Notifications

Submitted by thenonhacker on June 19, 2008 to Website suggestion

I noticed a slight decrease in voting activity recently, and I think it's because there's no way for the Windows UX Taskforce to be notified with action items.

Give users the option to receive one or more notifications:

- When somebody posted a comment on their suggestion
- When the status of their suggestion changes
- When the suggestion I commented in has got replies

Keep discussions going

Submitted by Nidonocu on June 14, 2008 to Website suggestion

After submitting a comment, no one can easily reply or be notified of replies to their comments on Taskforce items. This means conversations can't get started as items are forgotten about.

Use a simple Twitter/Blog style reply and notification system:

'@nidonocu: I really think that's a neat idea.'

The '@name:' would be looked for at the start of each paragraph, so multiple replies (more...)

Merging Similar Bug Reports

Submitted by bwilson on June 13, 2008 to Website suggestion

I have posted a bug that is very similar to someone else's. The owners of both bugs want to merge them in order to make them more visible on this site by having many more votes in order to increase the likelihood of them getting fixed.

Allow registered users of this site to merge their bugs with other bugs pending the approval of the host bug and you, Long.

Taskforce: Password "Remember Me" Doesn't Work More Than 1 Day

Submitted by thenonhacker on June 16, 2008 to Bug, Website suggestion

In the Windows UX Taskforce Login Page, I log in with "Remember Me" ticked, and it works for 1 day. After a day it prompts me to login again. (I checked my cookie settings and they are fine)

When you promote or demote a suggestion, the number of votes change accordingly, but the number of promotes/demotes doesn't.

Submitted by .Chris on August 14, 2008 to Website suggestion

What about a Windows Live Task Force? You could ways integrate windows live taskforce in to aero taskforce and alow us to post windows live quarks in here. But I like the idea of having a new taskforce strictly for Windows Live.

dupe overlay div

Submitted by Cloud02 on June 14, 2008 to Website suggestion

The overlay on submissions that are flagged as dupes is too wide, so it expands on to the menu in the sides and makes them unclickable.

Shorten the width

Voting allowed on fixed submissions

Submitted by Cloud02 on June 14, 2008 to Website suggestion

Submissions that have been flagged with "fixed" can still be voted on, which is unnecessary since the people have been heard.

Remove the voting ability on submission that have been fixed.
Do not change "rejected", since the people can still show their unhappiness with the decision.
