Separate Internet settings from Internet Explorer settings

Submitted by Alok on February 11, 2010 to Legacy

In the control panel, applet "Internet Settings" has more of "Internet Explorer" settings than "Internet" settings.

Of various tabs (General, Security, Privacy, Content, Connections, Programs, and Advanced), (more...)

These two should be separated out. Only Internet Settings should be in the control panel, while "Internet Explorer" settings should be in Internet Explorer itself.

If nothing else, "Internet Settings" should be renamed (more...)

Submitted by Lasse on April 17, 2009 to Annoyance, Legacy, Usability

When navigating the file dialog with the keyboard, after pressing Enter to go into a given directory the keyboard focus is changed to the file name field.

Edit: Yeah, sorry forgot to mention the fact that this happens in Windows 7 build (more...)

Really odd, archaic picture in Win Mail identity wizard; also lies in the wizard

Submitted by yaldak on December 5, 2008 to Aesthetics, Legacy

Not only is it black and white, but this picture looks bizarre and has no place.
Also, in the first part of the wizard, it tells me that it found identities. Clicking next tells me there are no identities. Perhaps the wizard would be better off (more...)

Remove the picture, change the text

IMAP folders download uses legacy icons

Submitted by GoddersUK on November 2, 2008 to Aesthetics, Icons, Legacy

If you reset your IMAP folders list the download dialogue uses legacy icons.

(This screenshot was taken in Live Mail, but I assume that it is the same in Windows Mail)

Update the icons.

DX Diag has old icon

Submitted by GoddersUK on October 30, 2008 to Aesthetics, Icons, Legacy

DX Diag's icon is based on the old direct x logo - http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/3/3b/DirectX_1_logo.png

USB/Flash drives do not have "percentage used" color overlay

Submitted by rubber gun on October 21, 2008 to Aesthetics, Annoyance, Icons, Legacy, Usability

My USB is FAT32, and is shown in Computer. If i right click, and click view as portable device, it comes up in an anoying window, which DOES show an overlay. First, the "portable device" concept is useless, and second, why does it show the overlay?

Centralize portable devices into Computer, and let USB drives have remaining space overlay

After installing programs, often in the "Programs and Features" pane, they either show no icon, the wrong icon, or pixelated/scaled-up Windows XP icons, or even the same icon with different sizes

Deleting a folder which is too large for the Recycle Bin generates a misleading confirmation

Submitted by Calum.Cook on October 18, 2008 to Annoyance, Legacy, Usability

When you delete a folder that is too large for the Recycle Bin, the fact that it will be permanently deleted is not very noticeable because this information is contained in small text and below it is a massive folder icon. This can lead users to click (more...)

Make the fact that the folder will be permanently deleted more obvious, and also give this confirmation message the Windows Vista style.
